Christina and Ian were drawn to the UBC Boathouse for it’s serene and calm feel that is reflected on the lower dock and continues into the event hall. Christina and Ian wanted to honor their traditions by incorporating red and gold colours into their decor scheme. They chose to keep their guest list small at 120 to have those that are closest to them and love them most surround them during this very special moment in their relationship. Sunam Events made their vision come to life by creating the traditional mandap (alter) on the dock. Christina and Ian used Maharaja Catering to offer an Indian-style lunch on the lower dock before transitioning to their romantic and vintage evening reception. In the evening, Christina focused on soft ivory, blush and dusty gold details in their decor and vintage focal points with the help of Bespoke Decor. This continued the serene feeling from the ceremony into the evening, but gave her guests a completely different experience. Ritz Catering provided their buffet dinner and Straight Up Bar Services ran the bar. Christina and Ian had a clear vision of what they wanted their wedding day to look like, a balance between their personalities and infusing traditional aspects into their ceremony but it was Melissa Monez from DreamGroup Productions that helped them tie these details all together. This was one of our favourite weddings this summer to look back on because of how Christina and Ian made their wedding day so uniquely them and transformed the spaces perfectly as their wedding progressed throughout the day – also how perfect the two of them are together!

“Ian and I both will always have the best memories from our wedding! I will never forget walking down that ramp towards Ian, and then seeing him made all of my anxiety go away. Everything was perfect from the ceremony, to cocktail hour, to the reception. We loved every minute of it!”
“I kept the ceremony lively by incorporating traditional colours like red and gold. I went for the more softer colours of ivory, blush and dusty gold with a vintage feel by having small elements throughout with the decor. Sunam did our morning ceremony and nailed it out of the park! He really listened to my vision and created a traditional, yet serene mandap (alter) on the dock. He captured our vision perfectly and was very easy to work with.”
“Our caterers: Ritz and Maharaja were both fantastic. The food was delicious, the service and staff were great and very friendly. We had a great experience working with all of our vendors. Straight-up was a lot of fun too!”
“Malissa Moniz who was our wedding day coordinator from DreamGroup Productions. She was absolutely amazing at keeping the day organized. She took over all of my stress and worries about 2 months before the wedding. She worked with us to ensure every detail was taken care of so that I wouldn’t have to worry about a thing on the day of my wedding. Everything ran according to time. She was very detailed and organized and it was great seeing the collaboration between her and UBC Boathouse.”
