Paul & Allison have been together for about 7 years. They have been through 5 houses, 4 cars, 3 cities, 2 provinces, and more memories than they could ever tell…
With all those memories, they really tried to incorporate lots of personal and hand made touches into their wedding day. With Paul’s help, Allison made all of the centerpieces. She designed the invitations and programs, and made paper flowers out of poems from Paul for her bouquet.
They wanted to have a rustic atmosphere, so they tied that in with withburlap, shutters, barrels and lanterns. However, Allison says that her favorite part of the decor was the strings of light intertwined with large panels of draping, something they almost decided not to do because of the difficult logistics of hanging them!
It certainly was a day to remember and as such, it was really important to Allison to include the presence of her Mother at her wedding. She wrapped lace from her mother’s wedding dress around her bouquet and reserved a seat with her picture in the front row for the ceremony. The Father Daughter dance was filled with tears as Allison and her father swayed to the song from her mother’s memorial.
The moment that was the most unforgettable though, is the moment Paul & Allison read their vows to each other. Allison tells us about the big moment:
“As we choked back tears, we finally got to promise our lives to each other, in front of a remarkable amount of family and friends; most of whom had traveled from far away to join us on our special day… I’m so grateful we chose the venue we did. UBC Boathouse was everything we dreamt of, and more. We get to look back at our gorgeous wedding, and remember the truly perfect backdrop we had for the most spectacular day of our lives!”
